This box contains four solenoid driven hammers that strike a grid of silk screened "ears" made from various materials.
This work is controlled by an Arduino microcontroller. The sequences are stored in external, to the microcontroller, serial EEPROMs. The sequences are created in a custom sequencer application written in Processing.
An optical sensor is used to turn the unit on and off with the opening and closing of the lid.
Originally created as part of a collaborative exhibition with artist Laura Paulini. The design on the top of the box is hers.
